“Intriguing, playful and provocative, the exhibition highlights a unique selection of representational and non-objective works by Group A members and guests. Using color, shape, size, scale, and, in some cases, the process itself, the featured artists share a language - both deeply personal and universal- grounded in the abstract.“
-Kate Lydon, Curator
PORTALS is the latest exhibition of Group A’s year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of its founding. The group was established in 1944 by four well known Pittsburgh artists, (who were also Carnegie Tech faculty members), out of frustration over the Pittsburgh art establishment’s reluctance to recognize abstraction.
